A modern Italian restaurant, wine and cocktail bar in Cronulla. Handmade pasta, coastal energy, and genuine hospitality from our family to yours.

At Pino's al Mare, the essence of Puglia's natural beauty surrounds you. The white rustic walls, high ceilings, terracotta ornaments, and olive trees reflect the sun-kissed shores and the vibrant life of the Italian coast. This setting brings to mind an unforgettable holiday with my wife and daughters, where we experienced a sense of serenity and were spoiled with great food and hospitality.

I want you to feel the same warmth, comfort, and happiness we felt then. For me, sharing this with you is a true gift. I truly hope our food and hospitality make you feel at home among good friends by the sea.

Con amore,

Matteo, Owner and Friend

Our Story

Assorted Italian dishes on white plates, including pasta with tomato sauce and ricotta cheese, green pasta with broccoli, and grilled vegetables, arranged on a wooden table.
Interior of a modern restaurant with wooden tables, candles, and a bar with barstools. Large windows and a high, white ceiling with light fixtures.

Every day, as I step into this room, where the gentle sounds of the sea mix with music and the aroma of fresh ingredients, I feel at home.

Our coastal Italian restaurant, made for connection.

In the heart of Cronulla, just a short walk from the ocean, Pino’s al Mare brings a touch of Italy to the coast. The dining room is framed by olive trees and terracotta that glows with the light. There’s a wine cellar for intimate moments and a cocktail bar that hums from afternoon spritzes to late-night negronis. It’s lively, it’s local, and it always feels like home.

Food is about sharing with the people we love, the culture we come from, and the place we call home.

Our menu celebrates fresh produce, prepared in the traditional Italian way, with a special focus on daily baked focaccia, house-made pasta, seafood, and steaks to share. Each dish is crafted with a touch of flair, a trait inherited from my father, Pino, after whom this restaurant is named.

Saluti

Our cocktails are crafted with the spirit of the coast, fresh, vibrant, and made to be shared.
Our expansive award-winning wine list reflects our story, celebrating bold Italian reds, refined Australian varietals, and distinctive South African wines in honour of my wife, Nerina’s heritage.

Our Chef

Our Chef, Cristiano Patacca, is not just an exceptionally talented chef but also a dear friend. Cristiano and I met when we first arrived in Australia, and when I decided to embark on this incredible journey, there was no one else I wanted to lead Pino’s kitchen.

Two men are sitting at a restaurant table smiling at each other. One is wearing a white t-shirt and the other is dressed as a chef in a white coat and apron. On the table are plates of pasta, a bottle of red wine, and glasses of wine. The restaurant has a window with a cactus outside and a neutral interior.

We have been through thick and thin together, and it warms my heart and makes me feel proud to see how far we have come in pursuing our shared dream of creating a remarkable hospitality experience in Australia.

Tuscany-born and classically trained in Italy, London & Sydney, Cristiano blends tradition with creativity, shaping simple, honest ingredients into dishes that feel both familiar and new, fresh, seasonal, and full of heart.

At Pino’s al Mare, connection is found in every pour and every plate. Shared food, great wine, and those long, unhurried meals that stay with you long after the night ends.

Maybe it’s a spritz and a few olives at the bar while the evening hums around you, or a big dinner in the main room with family and friends, where the laughter carries and plates are passed from hand to hand. The courtyard’s perfect for a relaxed afternoon that turns into sunset, and our private wine room offers something a little more intimate for birthdays, small celebrations, or long lunches that run late.

Whether you’ve dressed up for a special night or wandered in straight from the beach, we have space for you here. Just as this community has welcomed us, we can’t wait to welcome you.
